Craziest dream last night.
Rather inspired by oukamiyoukai45 's sphinxes.
Edited so it has more quick scenes from the dream. Little to no detail in it.
It's a more futuristic setting. The world is controlled by an organization/government that' hell-bent on removing any 'volatile' personalities, colors, and people. By volatile, they mean artistic, different, quirky. People who go outside the standards of cold metal appliances, people who grow plants in decorated flower pots on their window sills, people who don't conform to their monochromatic cleansing.
Their cleansing methods are less than pleasant. It's sort of like a broom sweeping. They brush all the bright things in one long sweep to a gigantic garbage piles outside the city limits. People found with colorful materials are sent into a sort of rehab/prison where they try to brainwash all the quirks out of you. The only issue, is that the garbage piles are dispersed so that the quickly growing outer-cities overtake them, so the sweep is a near-constant thing in people's (called Edgers, for they always live on the edge of the city) lives. The sweep goes by sections, and they just throw everything to the next section until they need to sweep that one up as well. Drones search out bright colors, clothes, shirts, animals- it doesn't matter.
Enter the sphinxes.
The sphinxes are considered 'rats' of the sky to the inner city-dwellers. They're vicious, some of them even have bits of odd color on their feathers, fur, skin(most of them adapted to be monochromatic). However, they're great for experimenting drugs and the such on. Scientist like to test and prod them, to see why some still grow color, especially the ones that hang around the 'garbage' piles. So the drones, usually track, catch, cage, and insert microchips in them.
The sphinxes are generally the sizes of dogs, smallest being the size of a medium size cat- largest being the size of a great dane.
They have the ability to shift into human Edgers when they need to stay incognito.
Their wings are like a bats, except thicker and on the outside they're covered in feathers (like a bird) for insulation.
There's a rebellion starting, lead by the largest, darkest sphinx. They're tired of being captured and tortured. Like the Edgers, they're tired of being pushed and manipulated to conform. He's the dark sphinx in this picture, with the red mask and grey eyes.
The other sphinx is.. probably the most colorful of sphinxes. In human form she blends in rather well, black hair, nothing very stylish in her off-work clothing styles. The only thing about her that's noticeable is her eyes which are meant to be the same blue-green of part of her wings. Supposedly she's going to help them win the rebellion, not sure how exactly - as she has the hardest time hiding in comparison. She was born in human form, then her parents were sent to rehab. So most of her life she's spent in the monochromatic world, never seeing vibrant colors, never getting in trouble with the law. Then one day, her company goes under attack, something/someone sets off a bomb of some type. She gets stuck being re-purposed into a new job of 'law enforcement' and sent to the outer city. She hates it. The people are either very formal and polite or they're thugs. She even gets scratched up by a sphinx or two, in her scuffles. Her partner.... is a bit of a dick. (also possibly the red-masked sphinx)
I... could probably make a story out of this almost, except it's not my species. Can't do a comic, because perspective and city-scapes. I can't architecture.
So tell me whatchu think, should I try expanding on it, write a bit, or should I just leave it as is- a dream?
I'd actually really love to rp this out, probably even get semi-custom/custom adopts from oukamiyoukai45 that actually fit it.
The current colors used for the gal aren't official or even correct. Inspired by the iridescent wings of waterfowl.
